Official says Iceland set to get $1 bln from IMF



    (Reuters) - Iceland is set to receive $1 billion (633.75 million pounds) in aid from the International Monetary Fund as part of a package which also includes help from other Nordic countries, an official with knowledge of discussions between the IMF and Iceland said on Friday.

    The official, who requested anonymity, said the matter was due to go before the IMF board early next week. Asked how much Iceland would get from the IMF, the official said: "1 billion (dollars)." Iceland was aiming to raise a much large amount overall. "They are looking for $6 billion," the official added.
