FRANCE24 Special US Election Coverage



    In the run up to the decisive vote to elect the 44th President of the United States, FRANCE 24 is mobilizing all its technical and editorial teams to guarantee exhaustive and original coverage of the final push to the White House. In 120 countries, television viewers will be able to follow this great American adventure, live and in three languages.

    In the night of November the 4th to the 5th, from 23:00 to 11:00 the next day, FRANCE 24 will broadcast 12 hours non–stop live coverage.*

    A "FRANCE 24" editorial team will be based in Washington D.C to follow the ins and outs of the election from up close.

    In all the swing states and from the headquarters of the two candidates, FRANCE 24 correspondents will offer unique reports and live coverage throughout the night.

    In Paris, at the foot of the Trocadéro, in collaboration with its two French foreign broadcasting partners, RFI and TV5 Monde, FRANCE 24 will install its studios at the heart of the biggest American election evening outside the United States, organized by Republicans & Democrats Abroad.

    FRANCE 24 correspondents will also relay reactions to this election from major world capitals: Moscow, Jerusalem, London, Berlin, Beijing, Kabul and Baghdad. In western Kenya, in Kogelo, a correspondent from the channel will even follow the election alongside Barack Obama´s grandmother.

    On the Internet, FRANCE24.COM will field a dedicated website allowing Internet users all over the world to follow voting results live, as well as live streaming of the 3 channels*. FRANCE 24 web correspondents will be posted in the candidates´ headquarters in Chicago and Arlington, and at the heart of the Republicans & Democrats Abroad evening. FRANCE24.COM teams will also offer a live blogging session with its Observers, who will be contributing their reactions from the four corners of the planet.

    In the run–up to voting, every morning from 07:15 and every evening between 22:15 and 22:30, FRANCE 24 will propose a daily report entitled "White House 2008", a 15–minute review of all the campaign highlights. On the program: reports from our US–based correspondents, Internet "buzz", and, every day, the opinion of an American in Paris.

    These two segments will be presented every day of the week until November 4th.

    In election week, FRANCE 24 will also be offering "Campaign Chronicles", presented from the USA, along with two exceptional editions of "A Week in the Americas", entirely dedicated to the campaign and the election results.

    Finally, FRANCE 24 will broadcast – live, in three languages and simultaneously on its website - the final pre–election debate between John McCain and Barack Obama, on October 16th at 03:00 (Paris time).
