Cinterion Launches Second Generation Scalable GSM Modules for Worldwide Markets

Cinterion Wireless Modules, the global leader in M2M communication modules, announced today the worldwide availability of its new scalable platform modules – TC63i, TC65i and MC75i. The scalable platform has a broad range of technologies and offers significant improvements including expanded features, a smaller footprint and backward compatibility with the existing scalable platform products, giving the customer full flexibility.

"With the new products, Cinterion delivers not only the latest technology but also shows our commitment to providing forward–thinking and sustainable solutions for our customers," said Norbert Muhrer, CEO, Cinterion Wireless Modules. "The scalable platform allows our customer to find the optimal product for their current demands with the ability to easily upgrade to higher functionality in the future –– or even to develop several varying solutions ranging from basic to complex functionality."

With the now launched second generation of the scalable platform, Cinterion strengthens continuous development and extension of the existing, very successful product family. The new technological core features the advanced ARM9 processor in 65nm structure combined with the field proven and reliable Cinterion M2M software stack. By building upon the latest silicon technology, the customer not only receives a high performance and efficient product, but also the benefit of long–term availability.

The cutting–edge platform meets the highest standards of quality and offers a broad operational temperature range with advanced temperature management for module protection. Another powerful M2M feature, RLS monitoring, enables monitoring of a multitude of connection and signal strength parameters to implement features such as customized jamming detection for increased security. The module also features an improved power management system, which leads to increased efficiency of the end solution.

Cinterion´s new module platform was designed with the knowledge and extensive industry expertise necessary to meet the demanding needs of OEMs. Maximum flexibility, high functionality, ease of integration, backward and forward compatibility are among the many module features that help to ensure an optimized and cost efficient solution that preserves a customer´s technology investment.

The new scalable platform modules include:

    • MC75i - One of among the smallest EDGE modules in the world. EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), represents the fastest transmission standard in GSM. The MC75i features a TCP/IP stack, serial and USB ports, and RIL driver for Microsoft® Windows TM Mobile based devices.
    • TC65i - Offers embedded JAVA TM processing based on a state–of–the–art ARM 9 processor architecture. Other features are GPRS, an integrated TCP/IP stack, and an array of industrial interfaces such as SPI, I2C bus, USB, AD/DA converter, and multiple GPIOs.
    • TC63i - Offers reliable M2M connectivity with GPRS functionality, integrated TCP/IP stack as well as industrial interfaces SPI, I2C, and USB.

All products are fully type approved including local network provider approvals.

To offer customers the broadest range of options the scalable platform will be continuously extended by additional products.
