Stocks rally on bank rescues


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq jumped more than 7 percent on Monday, as stocks rallied on a global push by governments to pump money into cash-strapped banks and paralyzed credit markets showed some signs of loosening up.

    The Dow Jones industrial average climbed 549.25 points, or 6.50 percent, to 9,000.44. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 60.55 points, or 6.73 percent, at 959.77. The Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 118.84 points, or 7.20 percent, to 1,768.35.
