ILEXIA Certifies Patton E-SBCs for Interoperability with Microsoft Skype for Business


    The IP-telephony solutions engineering firm, Ilexia, has certified SmartNode enterprise session border controllers (E-SBCs) for interoperability with the Microsoft Skype for Business unified communications (UC) platform, Patton announced today.

    By enabling secure, reliable SIP-trunk connections for unified-communications, SmartNode E-SBCs from Patton help companies reduce telephony costs while offering advanced communication features that enhance workforce productivity.

    The certification test plan was designed by Ilexia and conducted in its independent validation lab.

    Focused on typical architectures among French clients, Ilexia validated two SmartNode E-SBC models for seamless interoperability in several end-to-end systems.

    Test-system elements included several IP PBX vendors active in the Microsoft Skype for Business market, as well as SIP Trunks from a French operator.

    Ilexia’s validation program included the following tests:

    • Testing and validation of the SIP and RTP stack (G.729, G.711): Basic call transfer, conference, call waiting, forwarding, private SIP headers, masking number, timer session, timer recording, security (SIP authentication).
    • Load testing: + signaling audio (with sounds of long references).
    • Tests of SBC functions: SIP messages handling and processing, DTMF transformation, SIP processing mechanisms (re-INVITE vs REFER example) RTP proxy, security (authentication, user role), debug.
