Britain closer to compromise with EU partners on welfare curbs - Hammond


    ANKARA (Reuters) - Britain is getting closer to a compromise with its European Union partners over curbing welfare payments to EU migrants, the biggest sticking point to the government's EU reform plans, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said on Thursday.

    Speaking during a visit to the Turkish capital Ankara, Hammond said if no deal with the EU could be reached at a European Council meeting in February he was hopeful it would happen at the next one.
