AOptix Unveils Newest Intellimax Product for Next Generation Wireless Transport
(Mobile World Congress) – AOptix (www.aoptix.com), a pioneer in ultra-high capacity wireless communications, today announced the AOptix Intellimax Evolve™, the latest version of its groundbreaking wireless transport product. The AOptix Intellimax Evolve combines all the existing capabilities of its current Intellimax product, but it allows customers to purchase 1 Gbps bandwidth today for their immediate needs and instantly increase capacity to 2 Gbps to meet rapidly expanding capacity requirements.
“Mobile network operators find themselves in a race to expand existing network capacity to meet the growing demands of bandwidth-hungry subscribers,” said Michael Klayko, CEO of AOptix. “Intellimax Evolve gives operators peace of mind to know that their infrastructure is able to handle their current needs and sustain them as their need for greater capacity increases.”
The AOptix Intellimax family of products delivers fiber-like performance in a wireless solution. Based on laser-radio technology, it is capable of delivering either 1 Gbps or 2 Gbps constant data rate with carrier-grade availability at distances up to ten kilometers in a single hop, or virtually unlimited distances in repeater mode.
Customers can purchase 1 Gbps of bandwidth today and upgrade to 2 Gbps at any time, instantly, and without the need for new equipment. With scalable performance, Intellimax Evolve customers now have the ability to future-proof their networks with a low initial investment, providing mobile network operators with more flexibility, while opening up new opportunities for the hundreds of thousands of enterprises that don’t have access to affordable fiber connectivity.
AOptix’ laser-radio technology is based on the company’s Adaptive Optics originally developed for deep space research and later further developed under contract with the U.S. military. The technology is the basis for the Intellimax family of products, which serves a wide range of wireless communications needs—from mobile backhaul to fiber extension to last-mile enterprise applications. The technology has already been deployed by major carriers spanning six countries.
The AOptix Intellimax Evolve is available immediately for trial worldwide, and will be generally available for mass deployment by summer 2015.
