VoiceObjects, Inc. announced today the general

    over-the-phone self-service applications. VoiceObjects 6 features
per-caller personalization, an application execution environment, Web
services support, multimodal application support, and drill-down
application analytics. Enterprise and Network Editions of VoiceObjects
Server are available, and pricing begins at $500 per port.
VoiceObjects also separately announced today that it has closed a
$10.8 million round of venture capital financing and hired a new chief

Phone Application Servers Deliver Important Business Benefits

VoiceObjects Server is a phone application server, which is
software that enables carrier-grade deployment and management of
over-the-phone self-service applications. In the future, all
sophisticated phone applications will be deployed on a phone
application server. Datamonitor estimates that the market for
phone-based self-service applications will grow to more than $1.2B in
    2009.
All phone application servers have the following four
    capabilities:

-- The ability to dynamically generate VoiceXML to create
personalized dialogs with each caller at call-time, using
information in an organization's CRM or other databases. The
    resulting caller-specific conversations provide opportunities
to up-sell and cross-sell and higher rates of customer
    satisfaction and service adoption.

-- An application execution environment that supports remote
management and monitoring of multimodal applications, online
application maintenance for instant changes or rollbacks, and
    guaranteed high availability.

-- Web services support for easy integration between an
    organization's phone-based self-service assets and its CRM,
ERP, and other IT assets in service-oriented architecture
(SOA) environments, drastically reducing development time and
    cost.

-- Support for multimodal phone applications that may include
voice, video, graphics and text interfaces, allowing
user-friendly interactive applications that are unmatched in
    the phone-based self-service industry.

"Phone application servers are the next wave in implementing
personalized and easy-to-use self-service applications," said Sheryl
Kingstone, research director at Yankee Group. "Phone application
servers can lower the cost to deploy and maintain phone applications,
provide a tighter integration with an organization's CRM, BI or other
infrastructure, and will increase customer adoption."
The VoiceObjects 6 family of products contains two versions of
VoiceObjects Server: Enterprise Edition and Network Edition. Network
Edition adds to Enterprise Edition's rich feature set a multi-tenant
environment for telecommunications carriers that wish to host phone
applications for other organizations. VoiceObjects 6 also includes
other software for use with VoiceObjects Server, including an
administration and application management desktop, a developer studio,
and an analytics offering that provides drill-down analytics to enable
an organization to tune and to optimize its phone-based self-service
applications with unparalleled precision and speed.

First Self-Service Phone Application Solution to Support Video

    To deliver compelling next-generation self-service applications, a
phone application server must support video, graphics and text in
addition to voice. On high-bandwidth networks, callers can interact
with VoiceObjects 6-based applications via a user interface that
combines speech recognition, text and graphics messaging, and video.
VoiceObjects is now working with several of its customers to develop
next-generation phone applications with these capabilities.
