KanguruMicro Drive AES Receives U.S. Government Approval, Achieves FIPS 140-2 Certification for Securing Sensitive Data

Kanguru Solutions today announced their KanguruMicro
Drive AES has completed Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS
    140-2) Certification testing.
FIPS 140-2, a rigorous federal security accreditation program
completed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, sets
the standard for encryption algorithms intended for use in protecting
    sensitive information.
"FIPS 140-2 Certification is essentially the U.S. and Canadian
Governments' seal of approval for a security product," said Nate Cote,
Vice President of Product Management at Kanguru Solutions. "By
obtaining FIPS Certification we've proven that the KanguruMicro Drive
AES is secure enough for storing sensitive data, a key issue facing
our security focused customers in the government, military, financial
    and healthcare markets."
Kanguru Solutions is the first company to complete FIPS 140-2
certification for USB2.0 flash drives offering software based Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) protection. The company expects FIPS 140-2
Validation will help its strong base of government and/or military
    customers meet increasing security requirements.
"Security has been a major concern to government entities as well
as others, and we have made it a priority to offer the latest security
    standards available," continued Nate Cote.
Since 2001 the federal government has encouraged US Government
agencies dealing with national security systems and information to
adopt products that offer Government certified AES protection.
According to the Federal Information Processing Standards Publication
197, AES is a "symmetric block cipher" that encrypts data into an
illegible form called ciphertext making it impossible for outsiders to
    reach the data.
In addition to achieving FIPS 140-2 Certification, the
KanguruMicro Drive AES also meets Sarbanes Oxley and HIPAA standards.
It offers 256-bit AES encryption and is available in Green, Red or
Yellow housings for custom security applications. Additionally, it can
be programmed with unique identifiers and imprinted with custom logos.
The KanguruMicro Drive AES is available in capacities up to 8GB.
