Information Commissioner Christopher Graham to Keynote Evidon Empower Summit 12-June

Evidon, the world leader in empowering consumers and businesses to see, understand and control data online, has announced that UK Information Commissioner Christopher Graham will keynote Evidon´s second major EU conference. Evidon Empower Europe II, a joint summit with Field Fisher Waterhouse, will be held on 12 June in London, and will assess the progress businesses have made in complying with the European ePrivacy Directive and its cookie-related requirements with the UK´s 25 May deadline passed.

A follow up to Evidon´s first EU summit last December, Evidon Empower Europe II, sub-titled "What Happens Now," will assemble senior government representatives and regulators from across the EU, trade bodies, lawyers and leading marketing and technology executives for a transparent discussion about the state of the law, where the market stands, and the impact that the deadline will have on enforcement. It will also provide every type of business with an online presence and those advertising on the web with practical guidance on how to comply with the Directive, from auditing their websites for tracking activity, to giving consumers sufficient privacy disclosures and a means to provide their consent to be tracked.

Christopher Graham will deliver the keynote address at 2.30pm EST, and provide a comprehensive overview of the UK data protection regulator´s approach to compliance with the ePrivacy Directive and its enforcement strategy. Other panellists, including representatives from several European Data Protection Authorities, will be announced shortly.

Attendees will benefit from the rare opportunity to interact with key industry players, including major global brands, to discuss how they have interpreted and implemented the legal requirements. The debate is set to cover such topics as, "˜The Law and How to Comply,´ "˜The Regulators Expectations,´ "˜and "˜Approaches to Consent.´

Evidon Empower Europe II will also introduce Evidon´s new Global Tracker Report, the world´s first comprehensive review into and analysis of third-party tracking across the web. The report is based on insights generated by Evidon´s proprietary 1.6 million weekly-user Ghostery panel and comprehensive library of tracking code, which provides insights into the online tracking ecosystem across more than 8 million domains worldwide.

Commenting on the event, Scott Meyer, Founder and CEO of Evidon, said: "We are delighted to have so many influential and knowledgeable speakers confirmed for our second Evidon Empower Europe event. This represents an unrivalled opportunity for any business operating in the EU online ecosystem to understand the nuances of the law, how others have responded, and to evaluate their current tracking activities against official guidance. What´s important is that they also understand their obligations post-deadline, and that monitoring and moderation of web transparency will only increase after May, not simply evaporate."

The session takes place from 2pm to 6pm GMT on 12 June 2012. To request an invitation, please visit http://tinyurl.com/ccmg87p
