Partnering For Global Impact® 2012 to be held In Lugano, Switzerland in July
EBD Group, the leading partnering firm for the life science industry, today announced that the inaugural Partnering for Global Impact® conference will take place in Lugano, Switzerland, July 9-10, 2012 at the Lugano Convention Centre. Partnering for Global Impact will use EBD Group´s partneringONE® system to provide an effective platform for collaboration between impact investors, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs and organizations looking to support and deliver social impact around the world.
Impact investing aims to solve social or environmental challenges while generating financial returns. These investments provide measurable social impact and are driven by scalable and sustainable business models, a hybrid approach that is rapidly gaining currency around the world.
"Impact investing has the potential to grow to become a USD 500 billion market in the next ten years. To fulfill the promise of this approach to investment requires the creation of a marketplace that enables all parties in the value chain to efficiently and effectively interact and do business," said Cornelius Pietzner, Managing Director of Alterra Impact Finance, an impact investment management firm based in Zurich, Switzerland. "Partnering for Global Impact is an important event specifically designed to help develop this much needed marketplace, which will facilitate the connections leading to positive social change around the world."
Partnering for Global Impact will leverage EBD Group´s proven partnering conference format and partneringONE software. EBD Group´s six annual partnering events are held around the world, and feature two of Europe´s largest partnering events, BIO-Europe® and BIO-Europe Spring®. EBD Group´s partneringONE software has generated over 138,000 one-to-one meetings over just the past five years, resulting in approximately USD 2.5 billion in deals in the life science industry each year.
"Partnering for Global Impact will be an important catalyst for the burgeoning impact investing industry," says Carola Schropp, President, EBD Group. "The conference is dedicated to raising the profile of social impact organizations through partnering, and ultimately improving the quality of life for disadvantaged communities. By matching social entrepreneurs with the right organizations, we can help them to scale up their activities and achieve more systemic change around the world."
