WiQuest Communications and Belkin Announce First European Approval of Certified Wireless USB Product With Belkin´s Wireless USB Hub

WiQuest Communications, Inc., the leading, fabless semiconductor
company developing complete Ultrawideband (UWB) solutions, and Belkin
International, Inc. announced today that Belkin is the first to
achieve European Union regulatory approval of its Wireless USB Hub.
Based on WiQuest´s total reference design solutions, Belkin´s Wireless
USB Hub is now the first UWB product that can be legally sold across
EU member countries.

Adding to existing regulatory approvals for the US and Japan,
Belkin´s WiQuest-based products now conform to EU Class 1 device
regulations for UWB systems and will be used as the test bed for other
solutions seeking regulatory approval, when they become available. The
products were approved for use in WiMedia Band Group 1, the primary
set of frequencies having the greatest range, the greatest number of
alternative interoperable products, and is usable in many worldwide
regions. This event greatly expands the overall market for UWB
products to include all EU countries in addition to already approved
products in the US and Japan.
