PFAFF(R) sewing machine brand celebrates 145 year anniversary

WORLD´S PREMIER SEWING MACHINE BRAND CONTINUES HERITAGE OF REFINING THE ART OF SEWING

It was 145 years ago that Georg Michael Pfaff, an instrument maker
by trade, made his first sewing machine and founded the G.M. Pfaff
sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Today the PFAFF(R)
sewing machine brand continues to make history as the premier sewing
machine brand that sewers aspire to own.

"Georg Michael Pfaff, a talented master craftsman, developed a
sewing machine and brand name that has led the sewing industry
throughout its prolific history," said Don Fletcher, CEO of SVP
Worldwide, PFAFF´s parent company. "As the pinnacle of German design
and engineering, the PFAFF brand´s 145 year sewing heritage creates a
climate for continued development and design of high quality sewing
and embroidery machines. From the first PFAFF sewing machine to
today´s most advanced sewing and embroidery machine in the world--the
PFAFF CREATIVE VISION(TM) sewing and embroidery machine, we look
forward to building upon the past as we lead the sewing industry into
    the 21st Century."

In 1885, Georg Michael Pfaff opened a sewing machine shop in
London. The PFAFF factory was expanded and modernized. Georg Pfaff,
the second son of the Founder, took over the management of the company
after his father´s death in 1893 and expanded it further with great
    success.

From 1898 onwards, the company began with the production of
household, craftsmen, and light industrial machines with electric
motor drives. The first special sewing machines and industrial
machines were manufactured and sold in 1907-1908. In 1910 Georg Pfaff
presented the one millionth PFAFF sewing machine to the History Museum
    of Speyer in Germany.

In the fiftieth year, the PFAFF brand was already exporting to 64
countries: 34 European, 22 African, seven Asian countries, and
Australia. Over the next 25 years the PFAFF brand further expanded
into the Americas. In 1935 the three millionth PFAFF sewing machine
was made. In 1951 the first portable consumer sewing machines with
variable free-arm were introduced to the market.

In 1979 the PFAFF brand developed the first freely programmable
automatic sewing machine with X/Y control. A variety of fancy seams
and tack designs could be made on this machine. The PFAFF brand´s
technical refinements and precision associated with high quality
features include the creation of the original IDT(TM) system and
beautiful 9 mm stitches. These sewing advancements are only a few of
those introduced by the PFAFF brand and have since become sewing
industry benchmarks. A series of ownership changes occurred throughout
the ensuing years. In 2006 the American equity firm Kohlberg and
Company, L.L.C., owner of the SINGER(R) brand, acquired Swedish VSM
Group AB, the parent company of the HUSQVARNA VIKING(R) and PFAFF
brands, thereby creating SVP Worldwide, the largest sewing machine
    company in the world.

"The 145th anniversary of the PFAFF brand is made possible by
loyal sewers throughout the world," said Brad Hunsaker, Global Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for SVP Worldwide. "The many years of
dedicated efforts by the talented PFAFF team has focused on new
technology and attention to detail giving sewers the ultimate sewing
experience and the ability to be creative and precise in all aspects
    of sewing and embroidery."
