Global Semiconductor Alliance Names 2008 Board of Directors



    Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) announces its 2008 Board of
    Directors. Comprised of industry leaders that define GSA´s strategic
    direction, the Board of Directors includes 20 executives selected by
    the Alliance´s semiconductor members.

    This year, 13 positions were open for election, including five
    fabless company positions, three foundry positions, one integrated
    device manufacturer (IDM) position, two back-end supplier positions
    and two design partner positions.

    New fabless directors include Dr. Naveed Sherwani, president and
    chief executive officer, Open-Silicon; Vincent Tong, vice president of
    worldwide quality and reliability engineering, Xilinx, Inc. and John
    Urwin, chief operating officer, Wolfson Microelectronics. Dr. Dwight
    Decker, GSA chairman, non-executive chairman of the board, Conexant
    Systems, Inc. and Colin Harris, vice president and chief operating
    officer, PMC-Sierra, Inc., were re-elected. Each will serve a
    three-year term.

    For foundry representation, Rick Cassidy, president of TSMC North
    America, Dr. Fu-Tai Liou, president of the America business group at
    UMC and Michael Rekuc, president of the Americas region at Chartered
    Semiconductor, were re-elected for another one-year term.

    Steven Longoria, vice president of Semiconductor Solutions, IBM,
    was elected to the IDM director position. Oleg Khaykin, executive vice
    president and chief operating officer, Amkor Technology and Dr. Tien
    Wu, chief operating officer at ASE Group, return to represent back-end
    suppliers. Representing design partners, Dr. Walden Rhines, chairman
    of the board and chief executive officer at Mentor Graphics
    Corporation, joins the Board, and Dr. Aart de Geus, chairman of the
    board and chief executive officer of Synopsys, Inc. was re-elected.
    These representatives serve a one-year term.

    Additional returning members include:

    -- Dr. Sanjay Jha, GSA vice chairman, chief operating officer of
    Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies

    -- Jodi Shelton, GSA co-founder and executive director

    -- Dr. Robert Pepper, GSA director emeritus and chairman of the
    board, KeyEye Communications

    -- Danny Biran, senior vice president, product and corporate
    marketing, Altera Corporation

    -- Jack Harding, chairman, president and chief executive officer,
    eSilicon Corporation

    -- Dr. Nicky Lu, president and chief executive officer, Etron
    Technology, Inc.

    -- Chris Malachowsky, co-founder, NVIDIA fellow and senior vice
    president of engineering and operations, NVIDIA

    -- Vahid Manian, senior vice president, global manufacturing
    operations, Broadcom Corporation

    -- Steve Michael, vice president of operations and R&QA, Exar
    Corporation

    -- Dr. Albert Wu, vice president of operations, Marvell
    Semiconductor, Inc.
