Factbox - Latest military activity in Libya



    BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Following are the latest available details of military activity in Libya. Full Reuters coverage of the Libyan conflict is on.

    * NATO forces flattened a building inside Muammar Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziyah compound early Monday, in what a press official from the government said was an attempt on the Libyan leader's life.

    * Rocket attacks on Misrata Monday killed at least 30 people and wounded 60, a Libyan witness told Al Arabiya television.

    * Libyan Foreign Minister Abdelati Obeidi is heading to Ethiopia's capital to discuss a peace plan with the African Union, a spokesman for Gaddafi's government said late Sunday.

    * Libya's rebel national council has asked Egypt to stop Libyans based there from trying to destabilise rebel-held eastern Libya and funding Gaddafi's government, the head of the council said Sunday.

    * NATO took command of Western military operations in Libya on March 31 and has about 200 aircraft at its disposal. It says its aircraft have conducted a total of 3,725 missions, of which 1,550 have been strike sorties. NATO defines strike sorties as missions intended to identify and engage targets, but which do not always involve the use of munitions. * NATO conducted 143 sorties Sunday, including 62 strike missions. It said targets included:

    -- One communications headquarters in Tripoli.

    -- One ammunition store, one ammunition bunker in the vicinity of Tripoli.

    -- One tank, one ammunition storage in the vicinity of Misrata.

    -- Four ammunition shelters, four ammunition bunkers in the vicinity of Sirte.

    -- One tank, four rocket launchers in the vicinity of Mizdah.

    -- Two infantry fighting vehicles in the vicinity of Zintan.

    * A total of 19 NATO vessels have been patrolling the Mediterranean to enforce a U.N.-mandated arms embargo. On Sunday, 21 vessels were hailed to determine destination and cargo.

    * A total of 610 vessels have been hailed and 14 have been boarded since the beginning of arms embargo operations. Five ships have been diverted.

    * Of the 28 NATO states, only France, Britain, the United States, Belgium, Canada, Norway and Denmark have been conducting air strikes. Others have contributed aircraft and ships to support operations, enforce a no-fly zone and an arms embargo.
