S&P, Nasdaq end down with energy shares


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks ended mostly lower on Monday as energy shares sold off on lower oil prices, and as earnings season begins with concern company outlooks may fall short of expectations.

    Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 1.21 points, or 0.01 percent, at 12,381.26. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 3.72 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,324.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 8.91 points, or 0.32 percent, at 2,771.51.
