De Beers Joins Anglo American, Citigroup and Intel to Debate Business Strategies for Emerging Markets at Ethical Corporation's Summit



    De Beers has recently joined the executive level cast of speakers,
    which includes representatives from Barclays, IBM, BHP Billiton and
    SABMiller who will gather at the "Responsible Business in Emerging
    Markets Summit" set to take place on 9th - 10th October, 2007, in
    London.

    Dr. James Suzman, Head of Group Corporate Citizenship will discuss
    the business case for sustainable development in emerging markets.

    He said: "As a company firmly routed in Africa, De Beers has
    gained considerable experience of operating in emerging markets. This
    experience illustrates not only the clear business case for engaging
    responsibly in such markets but also offers some useful insights into
    the potentially critical role that business can play in driving
    sustainable development in Africa and elsewhere."

    Other topics to be covered at the summit include: anti-corruption
    solutions available to businesses; discrimination and equal
    opportunities management; supply chains in global economy; the role of
    business in capacity building; the bottom line case for responsible
    business in emerging markets.

    Over 100 senior corporate responsibility executives and
    environmental experts are set to attend the summit in London on
    9th-10th October.
