MeadWestvaco and Klabin Announce Sales and Marketing Agreement



    MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE:MWV) and Klabin, Brazil's largest
    paperboard producer and exporter, today announced the creation of a
    sales and marketing agreement in which MeadWestvaco will sell a share
    of the coated kraft paperboard produced at Klabin's Monte Alegre paper
    mill located in Telemaco Borba, Parana, Brazil. The agreement will go
    into effect January 1, 2008.

    "Access to Klabin's paperboard will benefit customers because it
    gives MeadWestvaco the opportunity to expand our portfolio of
    high-quality packaging substrates and extend our industry leading
    Coated Natural Kraft(R) line," says Charles Johnson, vice president of
    Global Businesses for MeadWestvaco's Packaging Resources Group. "The
    value of this deal is that it brings together high-quality products
    from two world-class manufacturers, providing customers with more
    extensive packaging and service solutions."

    The agreement involves coated kraft paperboard sold under the
    brand name KlaFold, which features excellent printing and converting
    properties for high shelf impact and visibility. KlaFold is ideal for
    packaging dry goods, consumer products and electronics. KlaFold FZ,
    another product involved, provides strength and durability in the
    demanding environment of low temperatures and high humidity for frozen
    and refrigerated food packaging.

    In addition to providing global sales and marketing for this
    agreement, MeadWestvaco also will dedicate a team of professionals to
    provide supply chain, customer service and technical sales support.
    MeadWestvaco will leverage its extensive global sales network to make
    KlaFold and KlaFold FZ available to leading consumer goods companies
    around the world.
