Welch Allyn Expands Board of Directors



    Welch Allyn, a leading manufacturer of frontline medical products
    and solutions, today announced that Larry Buckelew, Barry Wilson,
    Yvonne Curl, Samir Desai and James Crook, Jr. have been appointed to
    its board of directors. The new members will join six existing
    directors, including Chairman Andrew Wallace, M.D.; Welch Allyn
    president and CEO, Julie Shimer, Ph.D.; Bob Bennett; W. Scott Allyn,
    M.D.; Tasha Allyn Given; and Peer Allyn Soderberg, M.D.

    "We're very excited about the recent additions to our board of

    new appointees have extensive global business backgrounds in
    technology, healthcare, engineering and marketing, which will enhance
    the depth of knowledge and experience of our board and will serve as a
    significant asset to Welch Allyn."

    Larry Buckelew, former president and CEO of Gambro Healthcare,
    Inc., has more than 30 years experience in the healthcare industry.
    Formerly the president of TFX Medical Group and president and COO of
    Sunrise Medical, Inc., Buckelew has ample leadership experience,
    including serving on a variety of boards--Cymed, Inc., Gambro
    Healthcare, Inc., Sunrise Medical, Inc., Surgical Services and Weck
    Closure Systems.

    Another appointee, Barry Wilson, is currently senior vice
    president, international, and executive and operating committee member
    of Medtronic, Inc. Additionally, he is a member of Eucomed and
    AdvaMed's Board of Directors. Prior to serving at Medtronic, he was
    the president of American Home Products Corp. and Bristol-Myers Squibb
    Co.'s Europe division. His extensive knowledge in the healthcare
    industry is further enhanced from his experience as a member of Bausch
    & Lomb, Inc.'s board of directors and, previously, the Mallinckrodt
    board prior to its merger with Tyco. Wilson currently serves on the
    Rezidor Hotel Group board in Europe.

    Yvonne Curl is the former chief marketing officer for Avaya, Inc.,
    a communications corporation headquartered in Basking Ridge, N.J.
    Previously, she worked in a variety of capacities at Xerox
    Corporation, leaving as the senior vice president and general manager
    of the Public Sector Worldwide. Additionally, Curl's service on the
    HealthSouth board of directors since 2004, has given her an
    accelerated education on the delivery side of healthcare, which
    complements her extensive business experience. She also serves on the
    Charming Shoppes and Nationwide boards.

    Prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors at Welch Allyn,
    Samir Desai was the senior vice president and General Manager of iDen
    Networks and Devices, a Motorola business segment. Over the course of
    his 36-year tenure at Motorola, Desai has developed a strong
    engineering and management background. A member of the Larsen & Toubro
    Infotech Limited board of directors, Desai will provide leadership and
    innovation experience to the board.

    James Crook, Jr. was the CEO of IDX Systems Corporation, a
    healthcare software and services company that provides products for
    healthcare practitioners to automate financial, administrative and
    patient access operations, before IDX was acquired by General Electric
    in 2006. He started his career with IBM prior to working 25-years with
    IDX in a number of executive operating roles. Crook serves as an
    advisor to the Accel-KKR board of directors and is active on several
    non-profit and not-for-profit boards, including Volunteers in
    Medicine, Champlain College and Development Associates International.
