Netezza Data Warehouse Appliance Connectivity Enhanced with SAS/ACCESS(R) to Netezza
Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ), a leading provider of data
warehouse appliances, today announced that it has partnered with SAS
to further strengthen connectivity between the Netezza Performance
Server(R) (NPS(R)) data warehouse appliance and SAS' business
intelligence, analytics and data integration software. This
strengthened interoperability will be delivered through a
Netezza-specific SAS/ACCESS interface, and will allow users to further
leverage the capabilities of both products.
"Netezza and SAS deliver technologies that are integral to the
success of our business," said Eric Williams, executive vice president
and chief information officer at Catalina Marketing Corporation, the
global leader in behavior-based marketing solutions. "We are excited
to see the introduction of a SAS/ACCESS to Netezza interface as it
will allow our SAS users to more transparently connect to and work
with Netezza. The added performance and ease-of-use gains that we
expect to follow as a result will ultimately make it easier for our
organization to more quickly and efficiently glean analytical insights
to assist our clients."
The SAS/ACCESS interface is the foundation of SAS' data access
solution, able to read, write and update data regardless of the native
database or platform. The SAS/ACCESS to Netezza interface engine
improves data transfer speeds between the two products, and allows
SAS(R) applications to be more Netezza-aware, enabling additional
optimizations in data processing.
"By enabling tighter integration between Netezza and our
SAS/ACCESS product, we are able to enhance connectivity with Netezza's
data warehouse appliance," said Eric Hunley, manager of product
management at SAS. "We have many customers who are leveraging our
products jointly today, and our goal is to continue to make it easier
for these organizations, and the broader market, to use our
technologies together for more effective business intelligence."
The Netezza Performance Server system is built specifically to
analyze terabytes of detailed data 10-100 times faster than existing
data warehouse options, at a much lower total cost of ownership. The
NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a
single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query,
enabling dramatic increases in query performance and productivity
across the organization.
"SAS and Netezza together allow our customers to more fully
capitalize on the power of business intelligence and analytics," said
Vishal Daga, director of partner marketing, Netezza. "The enhanced
connectivity between our products will add to the analytical power
customers have already realized with our technologies. This
development also reflects the commitment of both companies to continue
to work together to meet the needs of our customers, and redefine
possibilities in the analytical landscape. "
