Dow rises 1 percent with help from energy shares


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average rose more than 1 percent on Wednesday, with energy shares among top advancers, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes added to gains of more than 1 percent.

    The Dow was up 135.40 points, or 1.39 percent, at 9,879.02. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 15.10 points, or 1.47 percent, at 1,043.16. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 28.86 points, or 1.38 percent, at 2,122.74.
