Democrats agree to drop $50 billion fund: Republican aide


    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Democrats agree to drop a proposed $50 billion fund to liquidate firms in distress as part of financial reform bill, a senior Republican aide said on Thursday.

    The concession was part of a deal to get Republicans to end their three-day procedural roadblock against the measure, the aide said.
