New Conference Announced to Address Greenhouse Gas Regulations Coming to the Chemical Industry

SRI Consulting and Chemical Week today announced details on a new
one-day conference -- Greenhouse Gas Regulations Come to Chemicals --
that will take place on June 19, 2007 at the Rocco Forte Hotel Amigo
    in Brussels, Belgium.

In 2008, the European Union will extend its emissions trading
scheme to the chemicals industry. Chemical producers will face
numerous challenges -- and many opportunities -- which this conference
is designed to discuss. In the United States the political momentum
for the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions is growing fast and is
expected to follow with similar emissions regulations.

The conference will offer decision makers a primer of what to
expect as the regulations begin to take effect and will appeal to
corporate executives: CEOs, Vice Presidents, Directors and Senior
Managers of chemical companies responsible for Energy, Energy Policy,
Environmental Sciences, Environment Policy, Regulatory Compliance,
Power, Finance, Strategic Planning and Research & Development.

    The agenda will cover:

-- European greenhouse gas regulations for chemicals and the
    European Emissions Trading system (ETS)

-- Cap and trade coming to the U.S. chemical industry

-- The G8 plan and consequences for the chemical industry

-- Energy and CO2 benchmarking in The Netherlands' chemical
    industry

-- Carbon trading and how chemical companies play the market

-- The winners and losers in chemical-emitted carbon

-- How greenhouse gas regulations are opening technology
    opportunities

-- Carbon credits, offsets and labels for downstream chemicals
    and fuels

-- How greenhouse gas regulations will hit balance sheets and
    bottom lines

    -- Greenhouse gas reporting

    Session leaders include:

-- Dolf Gielen, Energy Technology Policy Division, International
    Energy Agency (IEA)

    -- Eric Johnson, SRI Consulting

    -- Jan Janssen, Energie-efficiency, Verificatiebureau
    Benchmarking

-- Johannes Enzmann, DG Environment, European Commission

-- Michael Arne, Assistant Director, Greenhouse Gases, SRI
    Consulting
