GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Announces First New Gigabit Ethernet Products In Neternity(TM)/OpenWare(TM) Family Of Embedded Switches

Demonstrating the company's commitment to providing solutions that
are both backward compatible with existing infrastructures and forward
compatible with emerging requirements, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems today
announced three new products in the company's recently-announced
    Neternity(TM) family.

The new products, which are fully managed layer 2/3+ Gigabit
Ethernet switches and designed to handle the demanding requirements of
a broad range of applications including military, telecommunications
and commercial, are the Neternity(TM) RM921 6U VME switch; the
    ROHS-compliant Neternity(TM) RM922RC 6U VME switch; and the
    Neternity(TM) CP921RC ROHS-compliant PICMG 2.16 6U CompactPCI switch.
All three switches support 24 copper ports, with the RM921 being
optionally available with 12 ports, and are characterized by their
support of IPv4 for legacy communications environments and hardware
enabled IPv6 for future applications. (IPv6 is mandated by the US
Department of Defense for all programs from 2008.) Conformal coating
is an option for all three boards.

The three new products are the first in the Neternity(TM) family
to feature the OpenWare(TM) switch management environment.
OpenWare(TM) is portable across switch fabrics and processor
environments, is easy to customize using the familiar Linux command
line interface and is designed to make selected GE Fanuc Embedded
Systems Neternity(TM) switches easy to deploy and easy to manage.
Switch management is also possible via remote access or using a
    management protocol such as SNMP.

"Our line of fully managed IPv6-enabled switches brings
cost-effective high-speed network connectivity a wide range of
challenging applications," said Rubin Dhillon, Communications Product
Manager for GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. "With our experience, knowledge
and design practices, we have crafted Neternity Ethernet switches that
deliver exceptional performance while operating in demanding
    environments."

    Neternity(TM) RM921

The Neternity(TM) RM921 is an IPv6-enabled 6U VME fully managed
layer 2/3+ Gigabit Ethernet switch with either 12 front I/O (single
slot solution) or 24 front I/O ports (dual slot solution). It also
offers support of IPv4. Port configuration can be all copper, all
fiber or combinations of both. Also optionally available are 100BaseFX
ports so that both 100BaseFX and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces can be
supported on the same Network Interface Card, a valuable feature for
organizations migrating from 100 Mbit applications to 1000 Mbit
applications. An industrial temperature version is available.

    Neternity(TM) RM922RC

    The Neternity(TM) RM922RC is an ROHS-compliant IPv6-enabled 6U VME
fully managed layer 2/3 Gigabit Ethernet switch with 24 copper ports
(single slot solution) via rear I/O.

    Neternity(TM) CP921RC

    The Neternity(TM) CP921RC is an ROHS-compliant PICMG 2.16 6U
CompactPCI fully managed layer 2/3 Gigabit Ethernet switch with 24
copper ports, and is hot-swappable, minimizing potential system
downtime. It is also compliant with PICMG 2.1 and PICMG 2.9.
