Business Wire Releases Now Available in 11 Languages to International Associated Press Subscribers
Business Wire has expanded its international service to provide
news releases in 11 languages via the commercial content delivery
network of The Associated Press.
The launch of the new local-language service by Business Wire
follows the recent renewal of its global content distribution
agreement with the AP. Business Wire's expansion means AP's
international subscribers are now able to access Business Wire
releases in Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian,
Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish.
In January 2000, Business Wire became one of the first third-party
content providers to gain access to AP's international commercial
delivery network. Today's announcement reflects a major expansion in
Business Wire's ability to reach the agenda-setting mainstream media
in global markets, by providing local-language copy direct into their
editorial processing systems.
"The Associated Press is at the nexus of the newsgathering
process, one of the most recognized and respected sources in newsrooms
worldwide," said Cathy Baron Tamraz, Business Wire's president and
chief executive officer. "Local-language distribution over AP's
extensive international network promises greater visibility, and more
extensive reach, than ever before for Business Wire members."
Expected to go live in the next phase of Business Wire's
local-language expansion are Czech, Hungarian and Polish linguistic
capability.
Business Wire uses the premium services AP Datafeatures and AP
Express to deliver copy by satellite to newspapers on behalf of news
organizations, syndicates and public relations firms, as well as AP
Photo Express to distribute photos to newspapers and magazines.
AP is a major plank in Business Wire's multi-platform distribution
network, which includes its own patented, NewsML-based NX network, and
access to some 60 international and national news agencies, financial
information systems, news aggregators, web syndication services, and
other major distribution channels. Business Wire remains the only
commercial newswire to have full-text carriage provisions on all of
the world's leading news services: AP, Agence France-Presse,
Bloomberg, Dow Jones and Reuters.
