Indexes pare gains, Nasdaq briefly negative



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq briefly turned negative, and the Dow industrials and S&P 500 cut gains on Monday, with data showing sales of used homes fell more than expected month over month in December.

    Google Inc , down 2 percent to $539.14, led losses on the Nasdaq.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 35.75 points, or 0.35 percent, at 10,208.73. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 6.31 points, or 0.58 percent, at 1,098.07. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.68 points, or 0.26 percent, at 2,210.97, after briefly trading lower.
