Alloptic is Granted Critical PON Patent in China

Alloptic, Inc. a global leader in the development of Passive
Optical Network (PON) technology, today announced receipt of its first
patent from the Chinese government. With this patent Alloptic extends
its intellectual property portfolio in passive optical networking to
include the fast growing China market place. The patent is for
    Alloptic's Point-to-Multipoint PON that utilizes variable-length
    packets (ZL 01 8 21736.2).

"We are pleased that the Chinese government has granted patent
approval for this technology," said Tom Warner, CTO for Alloptic.
"This patent is an important step for Alloptic as it provides broad
intellectual property protection for Alloptic in China, as the patent
covers the transmission of variable length packets over Passive
Optical Networks, including those carrying IP based traffic and those
using packets formatted according to the IEEE 802.3 standard."

Alloptic was the first company to develop an Ethernet-based PON
product, and it continues to introduce new technology to the
communications community. This patent is only one of the ways it
continues to extend the boundaries of the "first-mile" network with
    innovative, standards-compliant access network systems.

Alloptic systems are in use around the world and offer years of
field-hardened operational experience. The Alloptic solution leverages
industry-standard protocols and architectures with cutting-edge
technology to deliver gigabits of bandwidth to residential and
business users. With a patented ability to support traditional TDM
over an Ethernet-based platform, Alloptic provides the full suite of
emerging and legacy services for the complete range of voice, data,
    and video applications.
