Cross Match Technologies to Provide Next Generation Livescan Fingerprint Systems for the US-VISIT Program
Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of
high-quality interoperable biometric identity applications and
solutions, announced that it will provide up to 3,000 L SCAN(R)
Guardian(TM) 10-fingerprint livescan units for the US Department of
Homeland Security's US-VISIT program. Cross Match will provide the
Guardian devices to DHS through its partner, CounterTrade Products,
Inc., who received an initial task order for 25 units that will
support a series of operational tests scheduled to begin at US
airports this summer.
"Biometrics are the foundation of a reliable and proven identity
management system and we are honored to be part of strengthening our
country's border management systems," said James W. Ziglar, president
and chief executive officer of Cross Match Technologies, Inc. "The
Guardian was developed to meet DHS' operational requirements in
demanding, high traffic environments such as US Ports of Entry, where
passengers must be processed quickly and efficiently."
Introduced in March 2006, the Guardian is a state-of-the-art
livescan 10-fingerprint capture system designed to meet specifications
issued by a US government joint agency user group, including DHS. It
is ideal for high-volume biometric applications such as border control
and visa issuance, and other applications where the highest quality
biometric devices are required to establish and verify identity.
Measuring only 6" x 6" x 4.7" and weighing only 4 pounds, the Guardian
is lightweight, compact, durable, and designed to facilitate fast
capture of 10-fingerprints in a variety of demanding operational
environments.
