BIOBASE ExPlain(TM) Analysis Platform Selected for Top Honors
BIOBASE announced today that their ExPlain(TM) analysis platform
was chosen as Best of Show at Cambridge Healthtech Institute's 14(th)
Annual Molecular Medicine Conference in San Francisco, CA USA.
According to CHI, the event is the largest West Coast
bioinformatics conference. Over 2,400 pharmaceutical and biotech
attendees from more than 34 countries were asked to vote on the best
new products among 5 categories including Genomics, Proteomics,
Informatics, Chemistry and PreClinical. ExPlain(TM) was selected as
the top choice in the Informatics category.
In addition to traditional downstream pathway analysis of gene
expression, ExPlain(TM) offers a novel approach to identifying
potential targets. Drawing upon the combined power of other BIOBASE
databases TRANSFAC((R)), TRANSPATH((R)) and HumanPSD(TM), the
ExPlain(TM) platform offers the ability to exploit microarray data to
identify and visualize complex regulatory processes hidden in the
experimental data. According to Dr. Alexander Kel, Senior VP of
Research and Development at BIOBASE, "Researchers can conduct upstream
searches in the signal transduction network to discover common nodes
that explain the observed changes in gene expression." Information on
BIOBASE's ExPlain(TM) analysis platform is available at

"This award is an excellent, independent endorsement by conference
attendees on the power of our ExPlain(TM) platform and its potential
for our customers. We are very pleased to receive this honor" said
Michael Tysiak, CEO of BIOBASE.
