Walmart results lift Wall Street at open


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened slightly higher on Thursday after Wal-Mart Stores Inc reported quarterly results that beat expectations.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 10.35 points, or 0.11 percent, to 9,371.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 1.56 points, or 0.16 percent, to 1,007.37. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 3.49 points, or 0.17 percent, to 2,002.21.
