Wall Street opens up on commods, Home Depot


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened higher on Wednesday as surging prices of oil and other commodities drove a global equities rally and Home Depot raised its outlook.

    The Dow Jones industrial average added 68.92 points, or 0.79 percent, to 8,831.98. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 6.88 points, or 0.73 percent, to 949.31. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 11.11 points, or 0.60 percent, to 1,871.24.
