Not All Reflectors Will Help You Be Seen In The Dark!

Increasing traffic is a fact everywhere in Europe. Therefore
pedestrian's safety has become an issue. The trend attracts all
reflector traders, also those who couldn't care less about safety
issues. This was noticed in a market survey made in Finland; half of
the reflectors sold did not meet the minimum requirements set for
    these safety items.

    Real Lifesaver or a Look-a-like?

There are look-a-like "reflectors", which reflect little more than
a white piece of paper! The real reflector hides in a microstructure
of high quality prisms, which actually make you be seen. A real
reflector shines and its reflectivity has been tested. It has a CE
marking according to the EN13356 standard and it is mentioned which
institution (notified body) has type tested the reflector.

Safe and Good Looking Kiilu reflectors Now in Stores

Herlitz takes its responsibility for the safety of pedestrians
seriously and brings new, soft Kiilu reflectors to the market. Kiilu
reflectors are made of 3M Scotchlite(TM) reflective material. For
those who do not like traditional safety pins, Herlitz offers
reflectors with clip fastening and so-called slap-wraps. These
alternatives are excellent for rainwear and Gore-Tex clothes which
should not be punctured. Slap-wraps are ideal to wrap over a wrist,
ankle or even a horse's leg.

Consumers Are More Aware about the Risks in Traffic

There has been a lot of discussion in many European countries
about pedestrians' need to wear a reflector or a high visibility vest.
Cases where a car has broken down or its fuel has run out on a
motorway have created interest in visibility in the dark. In these
cases a driver suddenly becomes a pedestrian and accidents are more
likely to happen. Reflectors help a driver to notice a pedestrian in
time and so avoid an accident.

    Good to Know:

-- In the dark a person on average can see only 5% of what he can
    see by daylight.

-- Most accidents involving pedestrians happen in urban areas.

-- In many countries the law advises, or even requires
    pedestrians to wear reflectors.

-- Herlitz Kiilu reflectors reflect well over the minimum value
    set for a reflector.

    Reflectors are Not Everlasting

Worn out reflectors do not reflect as well as they used to and
    should be replaced.
