Brazil education minister Gomes quits after rift, source says


    BRASILIA (Reuters) - Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff accepted the resignation of Education Minister Cid Gomes on Wednesday, a source with direct knowledge of the situation said, as Gomes' criticism of ruling coalition lawmakers earlier in the day sparked signs of unrest.

    Lawmakers supporting Rousseff's government were pressing for Gomes' departure after he told them to leave her coalition unless they voted with the government on pending legislation.
