Wall Street opens flat on EU summit uncertainty



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened flat on Thursday after a report in a German newspaper said the German government does not rule out possibly postponing a European Union summit planned for this Sunday.

    The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 9.15 points, or 0.08 percent, to 11,495.47. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index shed 1.32 points, or 0.11 percent, to 1,208.56. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 9.22 points, or 0.35 percent, to 2,594.82.
