Microsoft profit falls as PC sales sputter

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp's quarterly profit fell slightly as the world's largest software maker was hit by slower-than expected growth in computer sales.

The maker of the dominant Windows and Office software reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $6.63 billion, or 77 cents per share, compared with $6.66 billion, or 74 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.

    Its shares rose 2 percent.
