Palm cuts revenue view, cites weak phone sales

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Palm Inc said on Thursday that it would report fiscal third-quarter and full-year revenue well below expectations due to slow consumer demand for its products.

Palm said revenue for the quarter ending this month would be in a range of $285 million to $310 million on a GAAP basis. On average analysts were expecting revenue of $424.7 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Palm said slower-than-expected consumer adoption of its products had led to weaker-than-expected orders from operators and the deferral of orders to future periods.

As a result, the company said full-year results would be "well below" its previously announced target range of $1.6 billion to $1.8 billion.

Wall Street was expecting full-year revenue of $1.6 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
