Wall Street pares losses after data



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street pared losses on Friday after a survey showed consumers felt more confident about the economy last month than at any time since the September failure of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc .

    The Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers said its final index of confidence climbed to 65.1 in April from 57.3 in March.

    The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 10.75 points, or 0.13 percent, to 8,157.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 0.22 points, or 0.03 percent, to 872.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index was off 4.29 points, or 0.25 percent, to 1,713.01.
