Stocks open up on German data

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened up slightly on Monday after a sharp decline Friday, as strong German factory data eased concerns about a wobbly European economy and the S&P looked for support at a key technical level.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 9.07 points, or 0.09 percent, at 9,941.04. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 1.94 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,066.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 8.16 points, or 0.37 percent, at 2,227.33.
