Wall Street dips as caution eclipses earnings



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks slipped on Tuesday as solid earnings and consumer confidence data were tempered by trepidation over a churning political and regulatory landscape.

    The Dow Jones industrial average eased 3.40 points, or 0.03 percent, to 10,193.46. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 4.65 points, or 0.42 percent, to 1,092.13. The Nasdaq Composite Index dipped 7.07 points, or 0.32 percent, to 2,203.73.
