Peregrine CEO's hearing delayed to give more time to prepare

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday for Peregrine Financial Group CEO Russell Wasendorf Sr. has been delayed to give him and his newly appointed lawyer more time to prepare for the case, according to a court filing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Wasendorf's public defender was appointed yesterday. The hearing has been rescheduled for July 27.

Wasendorf was arrested Friday after a botched suicide attempt and his confession that he committed a nearly 20-year fraud that caused more than $100 million in losses to the futures brokerage's customers.
