Wall Street hits session lows
A speech by Bernanke on the U.S. economic outlook followed the release of data that pointed to a weak labor market but also a better performance on trade that could boost third-quarter gross domestic product.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 124.35 points, or 1.09 percent, at 11,290.51. The S&P 500 fell 14.23 points, or 1.19 percent, to 1,184.39. The Nasdaq Composite was down 26.09 points, or 1.02 percent, at 2,522.85.
