Wall Street opens flat on investor caution

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened little changed on Tuesday as many investors, cautious about global crises, bided their time before the quarter's end.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 1.51 points, or 0.01 percent, to 12,196.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 0.59 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,309.60. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged down 2.31 points, or 0.08 percent, to 2,728.37.
