Wall St. buoyed by consumer sentiment

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks were mostly flat on Friday after data showed consumer sentiment inched up in early August from July and was slightly above forecasts, even if consumers see little improvement in the economy.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 12.94 points, or 0.13 percent, to 10,332.89. The Standard & Poor's 500 rose 1.14 points, or 0.11 percent, to 1,084.75. The Nasdaq Composite dipped 3.59 points, or 0.16 percent, to 2,186.68.
