Indexes open up after earnings, home prices



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday, boosted by upbeat corporate results and a better-than-expected rise in U.S. home prices in May.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 36.94 points, or 0.35 percent, at 10,562.37. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 4.66 points, or 0.42 percent, at 1,119.67. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 8.69 points, or 0.38 percent, at 2,305.12.
