Wall Street gives up ground on housing data



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks trimmed gains on Monday after homebuilder sentiment fell in July to the lowest level in more than a year after a homebuyer tax credit expired in April.

    The Dow Jones industrial average rose 49.27 points, or 0.49 percent, to 10,147.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 4.89 points, or 0.46 percent, to 1,069.77. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 12.99 points, or 0.60 percent, to 2,192.04.
