S&P 500, Nasdaq drop 1 percent


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell more than 1 percent each on Friday in afternoon trading as jobs data hit sentiment ahead of the long holiday weekend.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was down 109.32 points, or 1.12 percent, at 9,623.21. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 10.95 points, or 1.07 percent, at 1,016.42. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 21.99 points, or 1.05 percent, at 2,079.37.
