Wall Street ends nearly flat; debt concerns weigh



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks ended little changed after paring gains of more than 1 percent late in the day on Thursday amid concerns about overseas debt problems.

    European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said euro- zone states must be more responsible for their financial situation.

    Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 5.06 points, or 0.05 percent, to end unofficially at 10,841.21. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 1.99 points, or 0.17 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,165.73. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 1.35 points, or 0.06 percent, to close unofficially at 2,397.41.
