Wall Street opens off after durable goods data



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street opened lower on Wednesday after data for new orders of long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods recorded their biggest gain in two years in July, but rose less than forecast, excluding transportation.

    The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 34.99 points, or 0.37 percent, to 9,504.30. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 3.99 points, or 0.39 percent, to 1,024.01. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 6.50 points, or 0.32 percent, to 2,017.73.
