Peru leftist Humala picks moderate to lead Cabinet

LIMA (Reuters) - Peru's leftist president-elect, Ollanta Humala, picked on Wednesday a moderate who ran his campaign to lead his Cabinet, trying to assure investors he will govern as a centrist in one of the world's fastest-growing economies.

He named Salomon Lerner, a wealthy businessman and a close adviser, to be prime minister. Lerner has worked for a number of governments from across the ideological spectrum since the 1970s.
