Turkey confirms its troops withdrawn from N.Iraq


    ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey's military General Staff said on Friday that its troops had returned to bases in Turkey after a major ground offensive against Kurdish PKK rebels in northern Iraq.

    In a statement posted on its Website, the General Staffsaid there was no question of any foreign influence on thedecision to withdraw. On Thursday the United States urged itsNATO ally Turkey to pull its troops back from northern Iraqswiftly.
